The need for research in Occupational Health in the country was first appreciated by Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA), the forerunner of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). IRFA set up an Industrial Health Advisory Committee (IHAC) under the chairmanship of Col. Bozman in 1945. As per the recommendations of this Committee, in 1947, an Industrial Health Research Unit was created at the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Calcutta. In 1956, the IHAC recommended to the Government of India that priority should be given for the establishment of an Institute of Occupational Health Research during the Second Five Year Plan.


Applications in the prescribed format are invited up to 15-04-2016 for the under mentioned regular posts. The Age, Essential qualification, Desirable qualification, Experience, Number of posts to be filled, Scale of pay, the reservation Roster point are detailed below:

MULTI TASKING STAFF (TECHNICAL) – 5 POSTS: Four post Un-Reserved, One post reserved for PWD-OH (OA, OL, BL)

• Pay Scale: PB-1 Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 1800/- + allowance as admissible under
Central Govt. rules.

• Age: 18-25 Years (SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates will be given age relaxation as per Govt. of
India rules, subject to production of Caste/Medical Certificate issued by Competent Authority)

Essential Qualification:

•  High School/Matric/equivalent from a recognized board

Desirable Experience:

• Working experience of 2 years in laboratory/animal house of any recognized Institute/Hospital

Application fee: 

          Rs. Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of “Director, National Institute of Occupational Health”, payable at Ahmedabad & shall be forwarded to the Director, National Institute of Occupational Health, Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad – 380 016 along with application form on or before the closing date. The SC/ST/Women candidate and physically handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application fee. Application fee is payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees.
